Member Information

Mona Houle is chairing the quilt show. Set up for the show will take place Friday, April 1, 2011.

Betty Marshall and Gracie Parks are working on the Silent Auction, and they encourage all members to contribute a quilt-related item. Small wall quilts for the silent auction should have a hanging sleeve, tabs, or rings. Include a label with your name and "CAQG Silent Auction 2011", and any other information you want to add. If your item is not an original design, credit the source.

If you would like to become a vendor at our show, please contact Judy Lesiak at garnet115@peoplepc.com. Limited spaces are available.

Other members have stepped forward to fill key positions. Gloria Bowers will handle publicity and advertising; Donna Bensey and MJ Stephenson will be contacting members to volunteer for quilt show duties.

Challenge Quilts for 2011: Civil War 150th Anniversary

2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. To commemorate this event, the CAQG quilt challenge will take its inspiration from two well-known songs of that era.
The rules for the challenge are as follows:
• Pick a phrase for inspiration – from the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” or “Dixie”.
• The quilt size – the perimeter of the quilt must measure 80 – 100 inches.
• Fabric selection – select at least 2 blue and 2 gray fabrics that read as solid (that is at least 4 different fabrics). Use a minimum of 1 square inch each. Up to 4 additional, non blue/gray fabrics may also be included.
Add embellishments – buttons, beads, 3 dimensional items etc.

For more information about the Guild Challenge quilt, contact Brenda Reagan or Mary Diner.
