Cyndi Souder will present two workshops and a lecture on Friday Oct. 2, 2009 and Saturday Oct. 3, 2009.
Cyndi lives in Northern Virginia where she teaches classes for The Quilt Patch in Fairfax.
She was a 2008 nominee for Teacher of the Year by the Professional Quilter's Association.
Her work has been exhibited at numerous juried quilt shows, including the Houston IQA Show, the MidAtlantic Show, and PA Quilt Odyssey.
Cyndi is known for working with texture and embellishments.

Friday Night Lecture: "Lessons Learned".
Time: 7:00 PM--9:00 PM
Fee: Free
Location: Charlottesville Realtor Resource Center, 550 Hillsdale Drive
Description: This lecture could also be called "The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly".
In this lecture and trunk show, Cyndi will be talking about the lessons
she has learned in over 25 years of quilting.
Using her own quilts to illustrate the lessons, she will address universal topics like respecting the bias, knowing when
scrappy is TOO scrappy, creating original designs, and letting the fabric do the work.
Friday Workshop: "Trees"
Time: 9:30 AM--4:30PM
Location: Covenant Church, 1025 Rio Road East
Fee: $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers

Description: We will learn how to create our own tree quilt using Cyndi's pattern or adapting her techniques.
Let the fabric do the heavy lifting!
The workshop will concentrate on free-form rotary cutting,
sewing curves, persuasive pressing and quick construction,
as well as detailed instruction on borders and quilting.

Saturday Workshop: "Machine Applique: Circle of Leaves"
Time: 9:30AM--4:30PM
Location: Covenant Church, 1025 Rio Road East
Fee: $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers
Pattern Fee: $8 (required for class)
Supply Fee: $5 (templar, glue, freezer paper, etc. supplied by Cyndi)

Description: Do you like the look of applique but want results quickly?
In this workshop, you will learn 2 quick applique techniques and you will perfect your machine blind hem stitch.
You will learn how to create a 3-D cluster of leaves for the center
and how to use your machine applique stitch to create
quilting designs.
A pattern will be available.
